📄 2025-01-28 Phone Call
I reported the theft of my identity. As of February 11, 2025, still no report was received from law enforcement.

Dana Wilson reported concerns about identity theft to Officer Leach during a phone call on January 28, 2025. Despite providing initial information, including suspicious findings from Intellius reports and other evidence, Officer Leach advised that no formal police action could be taken unless a financial transaction had occurred. He invited Dana to come to the station to discuss the matter further once she gathered more evidence.

Dana expressed concern over possible conflicts of interest, as both her ex-husband and mother appeared to have prior relationships with Officer Leach, which made her uncomfortable. Despite her efforts, as of February 11, 2025, Dana had not received a formal police report.

The identity theft complaint was later loosely combined with another report (2025-02-10 Incident 2025-0000126) involving a suspicious vehicle, blurring the focus on the original issue. Officer Leach reiterated that identity theft, without clear financial loss, is considered a civil matter—not a criminal offense—according to their department’s current stance.

Concerns:

  • ⚠️ No report issued despite formal request and presentation of evidence.

  • ⚠️ Potential conflict of interest with the investigating officer.

  • ⚠️ Inadequate protection or investigation into reported identity misuse.

  • ⚠️ Ongoing risk of data compromise and lack of recourse.

This incident highlights the recurring pattern Dana has faced: legitimate security and privacy concerns being dismissed or unaddressed by authorities, leaving her without documentation or resolution.
